Overview

What the firm does

Aldermere Investment Management designs and manages investment portfolios. The work begins with a written mandate covering objectives, horizon, liquidity, constraints and tolerance for loss, and continues as the ongoing responsibility to keep a portfolio aligned with it.

We work across public and private markets, in multi-asset mandates and in single asset-class allocations, for private, family and institutional capital. Which of those is appropriate for a given investor is a question answered through assessment, not assumed at the outset.

Firm details that carry factual weight, such as history, ownership, regulatory registrations, offices and the individuals responsible for investment decisions, are published here only once verified for the operating entity.

Investment approach

Operating principles

How the firm conducts itself

Four standards apply to every mandate, regardless of size, structure or asset class.

  1. 01

    Stewardship

Client capital is managed to the mandate agreed with its owner. Where our interests and a client's interests could diverge, the arrangement is disclosed and documented.

  2. 02

    Research culture

Analysis is written down and challenged internally before it influences a portfolio. Positions carry stated conditions under which they would be reconsidered.

  3. 03

    Governance

Investment decisions follow a defined process with recorded reasoning, scheduled review and a route for escalating breaches of agreed tolerances.

  4. 04

    Communication

Reporting explains what the portfolio is doing and why, in terms that can be checked against the mandate, including in periods when performance is uncomfortable.

Leadership

The people responsible for investment decisions.

Individual biographies, professional designations, areas of responsibility and experience are published here once confirmed for the operating entity. We do not list names, credentials or track records that have not been verified.

Until then, the structure of investment responsibility can be described plainly: decisions follow the documented process, are recorded with their reasoning, and are reviewed against the mandate on a scheduled cadence rather than at discretion.

Careers at the firm

Long horizons

We prefer assets whose value is created slowly.

Much of what a portfolio ultimately owns, including operating businesses, infrastructure and contracted income, compounds over periods far longer than a reporting cycle. The governance around a portfolio should be built for that timescale.
